loves light

oh that Elizabethan fancy
love light through a kaleidoscope
oh what man could cope
with such poetic deities
as Shakespeare and deathly Donne
with all the hope of the world to look upon
in a book that outlasts both historic width and scope

and so do not drink the hemlock
but see that we of men's stock
should be a happy lot

no matter the perimeters of a smile
loves light blue or red
a rose or maybe too a violet

and know that we have limited our time
and have no fear in that called dying
but read a book that saves you time
a past word that an old wise man had said
cause words are never flying

far from what they mean or may have meant
and I believe all of our life is written down
a record like in parliament
to read to know and not to fear
to show indeed that they too had spent
limitless time put in a rhyme
later to be read
